Area 71 History
On July 1st, 2008 District 60 split into two new Districts. One district centered on Toronto became the new District 60 while the remaining parts of the old District 60 became District 86 (covering most of Ontario).
When the new District 86 was created it was also decided to divide the old District 60 Division W into two Divisions with Division W and Division S being formed. Division S centered around London.
Prior to the District split the London area had three areas. These areas were Area 10, Area 13 and Area 68. Following the split Area 71, Area 72 and Area 73 were formed to cover the area formerly covered by the old areas.
On July 1st, 2009 the area around Sarnia moved from District 26 to District 86. These clubs were assigned to Division S and formed Area 74.
The first Area Governor was Dan Thrasher for the 2008-2009 Toastmasters year.
